Twelve Twenty

Tucked away on 9 Wolborough Street in Newton Abbot, Twelve Twenty is the kind of place you walk into for a quick bite and end up staying for a full-blown food adventure. It's a laid-back, cozy spot with a surprisingly bold personality. Whether you’re grabbing brunch with friends, popping in solo for a quality coffee, or meeting up for cocktails and small plates in the evening, this place wears many hats-and wears them well.

Let’s talk food, because the Twelve Twenty menu really knows how to make an impression. The Full English Breakfast is a local hero-hearty, satisfying, and the kind of plate that reminds you why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you’re more of a lunch or dinner diner, the Sirloin Steak comes perfectly seared, and the Pulled Pork is tender, juicy, and piled generously. Craving something with a spicy kick? Their Enchiladas bring just the right amount of heat without overpowering the flavor.

One of my personal favorites has to be the Mountain Burger-a towering beast stacked high with bold flavors and gooey cheese, finished off with a portion of Dirty Fries with Cheese. It’s indulgent in all the best ways. And if you lean toward the lighter side, don’t skip the Peppers or the Duck Tacos. These small plates pack big taste and are perfect for sharing-or not, depending on your mood.

On the sweet side of things, the Kinder Bueno Sundae is a dessert lover’s dream. Creamy, chocolatey, and loaded with crunchy bits, it hits all the right notes. Pair it with a smooth Espresso Martini, and you’ve got yourself a flawless afternoon treat or post-dinner wind-down.

Speaking of drinks, the cocktail game at Twelve Twenty is strong. Whether you’re into the classic Long Island Iced Tea, a cheeky Pornstar Martini, or something more playful like a Mocktail for the non-drinkers, the bar menu has serious range. The Electric Ice Tea is a standout-it’s vibrant, refreshing, and slightly dangerous if you’re not pacing yourself. Add to that a curated list of wines and beers, and there’s something for every palate.

Beyond the food and drink, Twelve Twenty has nailed the atmosphere. It’s inclusive and accessible-with wheelchair-friendly entrances, seating, and restrooms-making it an easy pick for gatherings of all kinds. Outdoor seating gives you the chance to soak in the Newton Abbot buzz when the weather plays nice, and the takeaway and delivery options mean you can enjoy the flavor at home too.

This spot is especially popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner-basically, they’ve got the entire day covered. It's also a great place for solo diners who want a no-fuss environment with high-quality service. Coffee lovers will appreciate the attention to a good brew, while cocktail fans will find themselves lost in a mixology wonderland.

One thing that stands out is how Twelve Twenty manages to balance casual vibes with top-notch offerings. It’s a go-to for a relaxed date night or a midweek meal that feels like a treat. With a menu that ranges from Maple Covered Belly Pork to Buffalo Chicken Fries, and from Cheese Bread to Margherita Pizza, the variety is enough to keep you coming back without ordering the same thing twice.

So whether you're dropping by for a lazy Sunday Roast or chasing late-night bites and spirited drinks, Twelve Twenty in Newton Abbot delivers a culinary experience that feels effortlessly cool and surprisingly refined.

Great food and service, the smash burgers and halloumi fries were fantastic. The cocktails were made very well and looked as good as they tasted. Can't wait to return soon!

We were on holiday in Newton Abbot and liked this place so much we ate here on three consecutive evenings. The food is very reasonably priced and there's plenty of it. The cajun fries were probably the best fries I've had in a while. Brilliant service from Beth, Liv and Alex. Highly recommend and if we're in the area again will definitely visit.
